Written in September 1963, Dylan deliberately set out to write an anthem for change. He later said he wanted to write "the biggest song I could write." The song became the defining anthem of the 1960s counterculture movement.
The song has been used in countless films, commercials, and political campaigns. Steve Jobs famously played it at Apple product launches.
